Do I need a permit to keep a roll-off dumpster on my property in Aurora
Fortunately, no permit is required in Aurora when a dumpster can be positioned on your property. However, should you need to have the dumpster parked on the street near your home, you will need a permit.
According to the city’s Division of Buildings & Permits, placing a dumpster in a public right-of-way requires permission from the Superintendent of Streets. You can get permission by paying a fee to the Division of Building & Permits in an amount specified in advance for each day the container will be located within the public right-of-way. You are also required to provide a hold-harmless agreement for the city, in which you will assume full liability for accidents associated with the dumpster.
Another requirement is that dumpsters cannot be left in the public right-of-way over weekends unless they are being used for a “special purpose.” A City Suburban Dumpsters can arrange to have your dumpster hauled away by the required 4 p.m. deadline on Friday. You can also pay an extra fee to the city to keep your dumpster in place over the weekend, if your project requires it.
The City of Aurora requires, as does A City, that debris in the dumpster remain below the top of the unit. This will keep debris from falling or blowing out while in transit, but also ensures no debris will fall out while it is stationary. The city also makes exceptions for units that are parked in metered spots. The fee is $2 per day per metered slot.
If you have more questions about permits, contact us at A City Suburban Service.
Very professional and helpful
I recently rented a dumpster from A City Suburban in Brookfield, while doing a remodel. The cost was less than other quotes I received. Seeing the positive reviews here helped my decision in choosing them.
The driver of truck #6 was very professional and helpful. He showed me how to open the door and offered a suggestion to make it easier to get in and out by using a piece of plywood as a ramp.
Will definitely use them again for other rehabs I have in the works.
Choosing the right roll-off dumpster size for your project
One of the most common questions we get at A City is in regard to dumpster sizes. Rest assured, we have one that will be a perfect fit for your project. See the below descriptions on each of our units.
6 cubic yards
Our smallest unit is popular with customers taking on landscaping projects where rocks, bricks and concrete are being disposed of. Capable of holding 3,000 pounds of debris, this dumpster is great for smaller projects.
10 cubic yards
With a maximum capacity of 4,000 pounds, customers choose this unit for two car garage cleanouts, small remodeling jobs and single layer roof shingle jobs that cover an area up to 1,000 square feet.
15 cubic yards
For jobs like a 1,500 square foot roofing project or medium-size house remodel, this unit is perfect, as it will hold up to 5,000 pounds of debris.
20 cubic yards
From deck removals to 3 car garage cleanouts and larger home remodeling jobs, our 20 cubic yard dumpster is a good match and will take up to 7,000 pounds of material.
30 cubic yards
Our largest unit will hold up to 10,000 pounds of debris, making it a nice fit for whole house window and siding jobs, small garage or shed demolition, large home remodeling projects and new construction.

Renting a roll off dumpster in Aurora: Frequently Asked Questions
Despite the fact that our online rental process is quick and easy, we know there are still questions you might have that we can answer to make the whole process even easier. The following are some of the most common.
Q: What can I throw away in my aurora dumpster?
A: Pretty much all construction and home improvement debris can be placed in a dumpster. This includes siding, tiles, bathroom fixtures, cabinetry, drywall, flooring, lumber, countertops, wooden furniture, yard waste and general household junk.
Q: What type of waste is not accepted in a dumpster?
A: If it can’t go in the landfill, it can’t go in the dumpster. This includes toxic materials such as household cleaning materials, paint, flammable substances, oil, batteries, asbestos, adhesives, medical infectious waste and hot water tanks. Illinois has a law regarding recycling electronics, so keep those out of the dumpster, too. If you’re not sure if some of your debris is hazardous, check with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s page on the topic.
Q: Where is the best place to keep my dumpster rental?
A: The best place to have your dumpster dropped off is where it makes the most sense for your project. The majority of our customers with open driveways will have it delivered there, as there are no permits required and it’s a central spot where debris can be easily disposed of. If you’re not exactly sure where it can go, contact us and we’ll help you figure it out.
